Inglobe Technologies and VTT announced today that they have strenghtened their co-operation plans for increased functionality of the ARmedia 3D SDK.
Born from a research and business collaboration between Inglobe Technologies and VTT, the ARmedia 3D SDK is today one of the most powerful Augmented Reality SDKs in the market. ARmedia SDK features a unique 3D tracking approach that is capable of recognizing and tracking objects independently of their size and geometry.
The SDK is employed in a variety of Smart Maintenance, AEC (Architecture, Engineering & Construction) and Cultural Heritage applications to provide users with advanced and contextual visual access to information in the 3D space thus bridging the gap between the physical and the digital world.
ARmedia 3D SDK is currently cross-platform (by supporting iOS and Android) and supports different authoring environments, like for example Unity3D. The new release will bring an enhanced version of the technology to the community of developers with extended support for Windows and a number of additional features, like Geolocation, Planar NFT and SLAM for automatic 3D mapping and tracking of unknown environments. Some of these features are already available in the new Inglobe Technologies end-user platform, Hyperspaces.
Additionally, the ARmedia 3D SDK will support a variety of Smartglasses including Epson Moverio BT-200 and VR headsets like Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard thanks to the new VR Panorama feature.

The ARmedia 3D SDK relies on a set of mobile and cloud-based services that allow programmers create the assets required to build their own applications.
