PrimeSense about to release a pocket size Kinect

PrimeSense, the company who licensed their technology for Kinect has recently announced that they will release a newer version of their 3D-sensing technology: smaller and slimmer. They announced their new chip, tagged “Capri” last year, but now a short live demo from GDC 2013 (Game Developers Conference) hit the internet.

The technology promises to bring Natural Interaction to several devices and markets. The technology breakthrough is that they have been able to improve on all aspects of the system, while substantially reducing the overall size. The size they had in mind is such that it can be integrated in today’s small consumer devices, such as tablets and smart phones.

“Capri” is scheduled to be available in mid to late 2013.

Minority Report-styled Interaction is getting closer. Stay tuned!
